Workshops and Training

Professional workshops and trainings
The Center offers workshops and training tailored to the needs of professionals who work with survivors of sexual violence. Clinical training is available for professionals working with specific populations such as children, elderly, persons with disabilities, etc. The Center also offers professional training to individuals in positions that survivors will likely come to for assistance or support, including EMTs, university advocacy groups, hospital nurses, social workers, law enforcement, clergy and more.
During Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April, the Center conducts a series of workshops on Fridays called “Shadows of the Past.” A small fee is charged for these workshops. Social work continuing education units (CEUs) are also available. Click here to request a professional workshop.
Self-Defense Classes
We conduct free and low cost self-defense demonstrations and classes. These classes focus on ways to increase your personal safety. During the fall, we offer a self-defense support group for survivors. Click here to request a self-defense workshop.
