Volunteering with the DC Rape Crisis Center
The DC Rape Crisis Center is grateful to our volunteers, who allow us to maintain our 24-hour crisis services for survivors of sexual assault, their family, and friends.
Volunteers enable the DC Rape Crisis Center to be available for sexual assault survivors, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. As a volunteer, you would be responsible for staffing our 24-hour crisis hotline and serving as an advocate at DC area hospitals (though primarily through Washington Hospital Center), in police stations, and in court.
Volunteering at DCRCC is a great way to develop and improve counseling skills, learn about the issue of sexual assault, and help our community heal from the pain of sexual abuse and rape. Volunteering also provides you with an opportunity to become an active part of the movement to end sexual violence. Volunteers become part of a close-knit community. Volunteering is extremely personally rewarding and it allows you to gain valuable experience and community ties. It can even strengthen your resume!
The DC Rape Crisis Center offers a variety of volunteer experiences, so you can choose what best fits your personal strengths and interests. There are both direct service and non-direct service opportunities continuously available.
